Meimei finally arrived on 4 Jan 2009 & Mummy with her dramatic story behind the scene...
It was on Sunday 4 Jan, I was awaken by Venezea in the morning about 9am. Daddy had left for his Sunday course, it was the 2nd last lesson for him. Like the last few sundays, I would bring Vz over to her Gong Gong house during noon & we would stay there till nite.
That morning I felt like my waterbag was dripping uncontrollably so I hurriedly showered Vz & prepare to leave for her Gong Gong hse. More uncontrolled dripping when Vz still wanted me to read her the teddy bear story book. But I sensed it not right, so qq called for cab & carried Vz down.
We headed for her Gong Gong house, Vz was sitting on my lap & singing away in the cab. More water dripped & finally my waterbag bursted & water gushes out onto the seat & mat. The cab was just around the corner of Gong Gong hse. I was so embarassed when informed the cabby about it. Luckily this cabby was still quite helpful though he was quite afraid I would gave birth in the cab.
So I qq rang up Gong Gong to come down to carry Vz up but instead he followed me to the hospital. The cab detoured to Gleneagles & on the way, I called daddy to meet at the hospital labour ward. Vz remained very calm throughout even though she saw lots of water gushes out from me...she's a very brave gal & I could see from her eyes that she knew her meimei was coming out.
Btw the cab number plate was 3824 & total fare was $22.40 but I gave the cabby $50 & told him to keep the change! Paiseh cos he would need to wash his car later with all the mess. So the cabby got a male nurse from the A&E to wheel me up to the labour ward while they called for Dr Fong. Gong Gong carried Vz & followed behind me. So they waited outside the labour ward before daddy arrived about 10mins later. It was about 12.30pm.
As it was my 2nd attempt & knowing what to expect, I remained very calm throughout. Daddy came into the labour ward to see me & at the same time Dr Fong also arrived. Again, I didn't eat again but I was more experienced this time & told Dr Fong to prescribe me gastric pill. As during my 1st experience, I suffered both gastrics & contractions pains.
So this time round I seeked Dr Fong advice to take epidural right away. While waiting for Dr Taufik to come, I told daddy to bring Vz & Gong Gong down to the foodcourt for lunch. Afterwhich daddy sent them back to Gong Gong house & returned to accompany me.
While waiting to take my epidural, the midwife gave me Milo, the only food I'm allowed to take. My colleague Jana told me that 2nd labour will be faster. Daddy started to take video around the labour ward again. While I waited patiently for Gv arrival...I was very excited to see if she looks like Vz.
About 6pm, the midwife measured me for the last time & said I've opened 10cm & is ready to push. I called for daddy again as he had gone back to my Gong Gong house again to check on Vz. I nv expected this labour to be so fast!
Daddy came back to the labour ward 20mins later. The midwife called for Dr Fong who arrived about 5mins later. About 6.30pm, Dr Fong told the 2 midwives to encouraged pushing & I did for about 10mins until they could see Gv head.
After 6.5hrs wait & with the final push for about another 10mins...I finally gave birth to Gv. It was the most touching moment & daddy took down the whole video shoot. This time daddy cut the umbilical cord for Gv & he said it was very hard to cut. This time round it was an all natural birth with no vacuum which I had warned Dr Fong earlier.
The 1st thing I said to daddy was meimei looked exactly like Vz! Once again, I was so touched when i held meimei for the very first time...afterall it's worth all the pains & efforts!!!
So here she is...meet my meimei, Genevea...born on 4 Jan 2009, weighs 3.475kg, stands at 52cm
